Jon Gould

District Director

Jon served as a staff member for six years for Senator Mark’s predecessor, Adam Hinds, as his Hilltown Community Liaison and then as District Director. Jon has a background as a newspaper reporter and as a teacher of English at Greenfield High School, Frontier Regional School, and Holyoke Community College. He’s lived in Williamsburg since 1996. 

Casey Pease

Director of Communications

Casey previously served as Campaign Manager for Senator Paul Mark and brings a deep-rooted connection to the Berkshire, Hampden, Franklin, and Hampshire District. Raised in the Hilltowns in the town of Worthington, Casey attended local public schools before continuing his education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Throughout his career, Casey has been deeply engaged in public service and political advocacy. He worked on several campaigns, including Senator Bernie Sanders’s 2016 presidential campaign, and has remained committed to advancing policies that support rural communities, working families, and local economies.

In addition to his work with the Senate, Casey serves as Chair of the Savoy Planning Board, reflecting his ongoing dedication to municipal leadership and community engagement.

 

Casey resides in Berkshire County.

Gitanjali Swamy

Senior Legislative & Policy Advisor

Gitanjali Swamy (Gita) is Senior Legislative and Policy Advisor for the Office of Senator mark at the Massachusetts State Senate. She previously served in the same role as well as Chief Legal Advisor to Senator Hinds. Dr. Swamy is also a representative to the EQUALS Global Partnership (a Joint Venture of the ITU, GSMA, UNU, UN Women) and an Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of International & Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University.   She serves on the board of Direct Federal Credit Union Bank and the Pan-IIT Global.

Dr. Swamy has founded, built, served as board director in innovation enterprises, led the investment sourcing, structuring, and transaction of seed to over a billion USD deals, in her investment or professional roles at The Carlyle Group, Booz Allen & Hamilton, and IoTask, where she is a Managing Partner.   

Dr. Swamy received her B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from the IIT Kanpur, where she was awarded several Academic Proficiency Prizes, her Ph.D. in EECS from the University of California at Berkeley, where she was an NSF Fellow & President of WICSE, and her MBA from Harvard Business School, where

Gabrielle Hanson

Chief of Staff

Gabrielle Hanson is the Legislative Director for State Senator Paul Mark. She was formerly the Researcher in the Massachusetts House of Representatives for Representative Mark, where she was involved with telecommunications and redistricting matters. Prior to her employment, she graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a B.A. in political science. Throughout her studies, Gabrielle had various political advocacy and government internships which sparked her interest in government and public service.

Anthony Coviello

Legislative Director

Anthony Coviello is the Communications Director for Massachusetts State Senator Paul Mark. Prior to taking this role Anthony, a Berkshire native and Wahconah Regional High School graduate, was a legal intern with Senator Mark’s Office, focusing his research and work in that role on the feasibility of an effective East-West passenger rail service, as well as the relationship between public and private sectors necessary to make the project a reality. Anthony is actively pursuing his J.D. at Suffolk University Law School, and completed his undergraduate studies in 3 years through Suffolk University’s  3+3 program, earning a B.S. in Political Science with a concentration in Law and Public Policy.

Chief of Staff

Senior Policy Analyst

Paige brings a unique perspective to her work in the Office of Senator Mark with a background in library science and education. She became more involved in politics through her work in teaching and seeing how the education system impacted her students. She started working for Senator Mark when he was in the House of Representatives as the District Aide for five years, assisting primarily with casework and advocacy efforts. From there, she became more involved locally and eventually worked her way up as the President of a local library group and as the Secretary for a Democratic Town Committee. Paige is grateful for such a wonderful Team and each of our team members.
